What is the GVAHEC?


The Greater Valley Area Health Education Center or GVAHEC, is one of five health education centers across Arizona. Funded primarily through Arizona State lottery funds. AHEC's connect students to health careers, health professionals to communities, and communities to health promotion and prevention activities. LEARN MORE


Our Three Primary Goals


The GVAHEC focuses its work around three overarching goals which have been determined by the State AHEC office. To learn more about the work we are doing in our region, click on any of the links below:


  • Recruitment into Health Careers
  • Interdisciplinary and Inter-professional Community-Based Training for Health Profession Students
  • Promoting the Delivery of Quality Health Care for Arizona's Rural/Urban Medically Underserved Communities, including Health Promotion and Prevention programs
